------------------------------------------------------------------------------ updateMirc v1.0 by Smay Last Updated: 10/08/2005 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Please turn on Word Wrap to view this file properly **Version history is located at the end of this file =============== ABOUT =============== This script will check www.mirc.com to see if a new version of mIRC has been released. If one has, it will ask if you want to download it. If you choose to download the new version, a screen will come up with a list of available servers and their pings. Select one from the list and the file will be downloaded, then run (optional). =============== Installation =============== Installation is as simple as loading the script from within mIRC. To do this, start mIRC and type the following in: (Note: <PathToScript> is the full path to the script, for example, "C:\mirc\scripts\updatemirc.mrc". Remember to enclose the entire path to the script in quotes if it contains spaces) /load -rs "<PathToScript>" A message should appear to inform you of successful installation. If not, something may have gone wrong. Try the above command and make sure the path is correct. =============== How To Use =============== This script will automatically check www.mirc.com when mIRC is first started. If you would like to manually check for an update, you can either: (1) Type "/updatemirc" (2) Use the right-click popup menu and select "Update mIRC" =============== Known Bugs =============== -The script currently doesn't handle mIRC updates stored on an FTP server. It ignores any mirror (listed on www.mirc.com) that has an ftp.* address and will only list those with an HTTP interface. -Transfer rate is broken. A number will come up but I can't guarantee its accuracy. =============== Disclaimer =============== This script was written by me over a year ago, and I haven't really touched it since. I found it while I was cleaning out my hard drive and decided to submit it to www.mircscripts.org in case someone was interested in it. I quickly ran it on the most recent version of mIRC to make sure it still works, but I haven't thouroughly tested it since mIRC 6.14. I did patch up a few minor bugs I found while I was playing with it on mIRC 6.16 however, so it should be fairly bug free. I would also like to state that I know several things are done poorly, especially with the sockets. Most of them are just hacks because I couldn't think of a better way to do whatever I was trying to do, but now they're stuck there because it would take too much work to go through and fix all of them. =============== Version History =============== 10/08/2005 (Version 1.0) -Initial Release
